Oxfordshire County Council's Library Service and a local housing association are working together to provide free computer taster sessions for over 50s living in Henley.
The 'silver surfers' initiative is one of many events going on throughout the county to celebrate the National Year of Reading 2008. The aim of the Year of Reading is to encourage as many people as possible to improve their reading, writing and IT skills.
On Tuesday 20 May, Soha Housing's Community and Computer Support Worker, Debbie Tucker, will be available for drop in sessions between 12.30pm and 4.30pm at Henley Library.
All over 50s are welcome to drop in during the session.
Debbie said, "Computers aren't just for the young or for those who want to play games. There's so much you can do - keep in touch with family, trace long lost friends, find information on hobbies, or just about anything!"
The event also marks the launch of the Soha Silver Surfer award - complete beginners and improvers will be invited to nominate themselves. Winners will be announced in July.
