Lib Dem leader Nick Clegg MP wants a better deal for young people
Conservative-run Oxfordshire County Council is under fire for its failure to support local young people. A damning report by Ofsted has slammed the Council for poor GCSE results, lack of provision for youngsters with disabilities and poor career advice.
"Lack of provision for local youngsters is a major issue in local towns and villages," said Stephen Kearney.
"I know from running my charity that investing in positive activity for young people brings real long term rewards."
"Local people recognise this. It's a real shame the Conservative County Council doesn't seem to understand this."
Earlier this year Conservative Councillors RULED OUT extra investment in youth facilities proposed by local Lib Dem councillors.
"The Lib Dem budget proposed half a million pounds extra investment to support youth facilities provided by local communities," explained County Councillor David Turner.
"Sadly the Tories voted this plan down, refusing to acknowledge the support local communities and local parish and town councils give to youth provision."
