Traffic in the centre of Watlington is making life miserable for hundreds of local residents. Lorries are still thundering through Watlington on their way to the M40, despite the village's 7.5 tonne weight limit.
Local Liberal Democrat campaigner Stephen Kearney commented, "These lorries are a nightmare for local people. They increase congestion and noise pollution on our already busy streets, and are very dangerous for local children using the road to walk to school."
Many local residents think a relief road could be the solution to the traffic problems. But the Conservative County Council won't even consider it until at least 2016.
Stephen said, "I am launching a petition to secure Watlington's relief road as soon as possible. It is unfair that local people are expected to suffer for so long."
