I've always believed in leading by example. That's why I'm already fixing my first campaigning visit to support Stephen Kearney's campaign in the Henley by-election.
In the early days of my leadership, I knew how important every by-election was.
I know that the hard work our members provided in the early stages of the Eastbourne by-election was what brought us our first big success. And so it was in the eight parliamentary by-elections that we won under my leadership. Help in the early stages was crucial.
I've just been talking to Chris Rennard who masterminded those by-election wins. He is invariably right about when a by-election will be held - and he says that this one is about to be called for June. He says that the campaign is well underway, with a brilliant team, HQ, organisation and candidate.
They are doing all the right things - but they need more people to deliver the leaflets that will set the agenda for the campaign, more skilled canvassers and more help at the HQ.
Campaign techniques move on. As ever, our team are determined to be ahead of the game. They are using the very latest in online campaigning. Stephen is already on Facebook, Twitter and more - as you can see at www.henleylibdems.org.uk - and using cutting-edge targeting techniques.
The Henley constituency is also a wonderful place to visit - you will enjoy campaigning there!
I'm looking forward to joining in, and I would urge you to help Stephen and the team as soon and as often as you can. Details are at www.henleylibdems.org.uk/henleyhq/
