Henley By-Election to be called soon?4.39.59pm BST (GMT +0100) Fri 23rd May 2008 Speculation is rising that 26 June or 3 July are likely dates for a by-election in Henley, following the election of Boris Johnson as Mayor of London. A number of newspapers and othes have suggested that the the poll will be called soon following the result of the Crewe and Nantwich by-election. The Liberal Democrats have already selected Stephen Kearney as their candidate and are up and running in their Thame Campaign HQ. Lib Dem Crewe & Nantwich by-election candidate Elizabeth Shenton has thanked voters in Crewe and Lib Dem members and supporters who have helped her campaign. The Crewe & Nantwich result was:
Conservative majority 7,860 (18.9%) 17.6% swing Labour to Conservative 7.1% swing Labour to Liberal Democrats
