Stephen Kearney says "Maintain our waterways"

Homeowners in and around Benson are understandably worried about the news that the Thames in our area has only been dredged twice over the last six years.

Ten boats have run aground at Benson in the last six weeks with the banks of silt being blamed for the incidents.

"Many local people are rightly concerned about the maintenance of our waterways, and the high insurance premiums levied on homes in Benson." said Lib Dem Campaigner Stephen Kearney.

The river used to be dredged every single year and the Lib Dems are pushing for more stringent measures to guard against flooding.

"I am passionate about the future of the waterways and the homes around it. We must invest in flood defences and help families in high risk homes get insurance." said Cllr Sue Cooper.
