Stephen celebrates Summer in Whitchurch

2.03.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Sun 8th Jun 2008

Stephen Kearney and the summer sunshine joined local residents at last month's highly successful Whitchurch Fete, where a great day out was had by all.

Stephen, who is standing to be the next MP for Whitchurch, was delighted to hear from local people and take in all the fabulous stalls throughout the Fete.

"The sense of community in Whitchurch is inspirational" said Stephen. "Having recently moved to the area, my partner Julia and I have been struck by the warm welcome we've received."

Stephen is pledging to be a local champion for the area and maintain the strong sense of local identity that the area has.

"Residents here in Whitchurch are rightly proud of their community. My role, if chosen to represent local people, will be to fight tooth and nail to defend that way of life."
