Local schools including Badgemore Community, Valley Road and Sacred Heart Primary are facing a real terms cut in their budget this year. Research by the Liberal Democrats has discovered that 14 nursery and primary schools in the Henley constituency are receiving a rise in funding below the 3.1% inflation rate.

"I'm really concerned to find out that some of our excellent local schools are not even being given enough money to keep up with inflation this year," said local campaigner Stephen Kearney.

"The Liberal Democrats believe that we should be investing in giving every child the best possible start in life. We are committed to putting an extra £2 billion per year into the education budget."
